What to expect once we begin
-
Building Rapport
It is important for us to feel that one another are a “good fit” for each other. Rapport is built between client and therapist through engagement and interaction and is continuously tended to throughout treatment.
-
Initial Assessment
I will obtain information from you related to any presenting concerns you or your family are currently having at our first meeting. I will also obtain pertinent historical information and explore your goals that will help us determine treatment length and outlook moving forward, so you will have an idea of what to expect during our work together.
-
Treatment Planning
I will collaborate with you to create an individualized treatment plan which outlines specific goals you will strive to achieve throughout treatment. Think of a treatment plan like a map. It essentially determines where we are going and how we will get there. Adjustments to the treatment plan can be made, as needed. Because, of course, life happens and things can change, so the treatment plan can evolve too!
-
Progress and Termination
We will continuously monitor progress towards your goals as well as any barriers you may face throughout treatment. Remember- we are looking for progress, not perfection in therapy. Eventually, treatment termination planning will occur.
Generally, this is when the frequency of your sessions will decrease because your ability and willingness to effectively address concerns has increased.
This part of the therapeutic process can be very difficult for some individuals and will be tended to with care.
